Surrounds - Protect your home! FAQs

Will a dartboard surround fit my dartboard?

A dartboard surround fits your board when its size matches, and every surround on this page is made for sisal or bristle steel tip boards. Viper Wall Defender surrounds work with both 18 inch and 17.75 inch boards, using an included adhesive band on the smaller size. The slide-on styles are made for regulation 17.75 inch boards, so for an 18 inch board choose a Wall Defender.

How much wall does a dart board wall protector cover?

A dart board wall protector on this page measures from about 25 inches square up to 45 by 32 inches, and the largest covers 8.2 square feet of wall. The slimmest leaves a foam band of about 3.5 inches around the board, while some add 5 inches on all sides. If beginners or casual players share the board, choose more coverage, especially below the board where missed throws often land.

What can I put behind a dart board to protect the wall?

To protect the wall behind a dart board, fit a foam surround around the board or mount a backboard behind it. The surrounds here are made to stop stray darts before they reach the wall, and the snap-together styles also catch your darts to protect them on brick or cement walls. For a wall-mounted panel instead, see our dartboard backboards.

What is a dartboard foam surround made of, and how thick is it?

Each dartboard foam surround on this page is EVA foam, from 1 inch to 1.5 inches thick. The snap-together styles use 1 inch foam and are reversible, so you can flip one over to prolong its life, and some are lined with real cork. The slide-on styles use a high-density foam designed for heavy use.

Can I get a dart board with a wall protector?

The wall protectors on this page come without a dartboard, so a dart board with a wall protector means pairing a surround with a sisal or bristle board. Once the board is mounted, the snap-together styles fit around it with no extra holes in your wall, and the slide-on styles go on with no tools.
