How to Play 9 Lives Darts

Because the name "3 Lives" just doesn't have the same ring to it.

9 Lives Dart Game Rules

A highly customizable and fun game to play with friends, 9 Lives is perfect for practicing hitting every spot on the dartboard.

Number of Players

Two or more players can play 9 Lives Darts.

How to Play

The dart game 9 Lives is a game of survival, but despite its name each player has three lives.

The confusing name aside, 9 Lives is actually a very simple game. The goal of 9 Lives is to hit every number on the dartboard in numerical order. Players start at 1 and go up to the 20 and then finally the bull.

Each player gets three darts per turn. It is possible to hit multiple numbers in the same turn. This means a perfect first turn would hit the numbers 1, 2, and 3. However, they need to be hit in numerical order. If a player hits the 2 segment with their first throw and the 1 segment with their second throw, only their second throw counts.

If a player misses all three throws on their turn, then they lose a life. If a player loses all three of their lives, then they are out of the game.

Optional Rules

Instead of having a player win when they get to the bull, 9 Lives can be played as an "endless" game. Instead of winning, the game simply continues starting back at the 1 segment.

If there are concerns that this endless version would go on too long, feel free to implement a limit to how many times a player can go around the board. Or if one player is doing exceptionally well, set a lead limit where if a player has a large enough lead they automatically win.
